I was recently revisiting some of the testimonies from survivors of the 101 California Street shooting, and something that struck me was the random and terrifying nature of what happened that day. It’s just chilling to think about how a normal afternoon at the office turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy in a matter of minutes. David Sutcliffe was only 30, with a promising legal career ahead of him, when his life was taken in such a senseless attack. By all accounts, he was a dedicated young attorney with strong ties to his community and his loss must have left an indelible void among those who loved him. I can’t imagine the heartbreak his family and friends went through and continue to endure, knowing he was taken so soon and so violently. Even though it's been decades, the impact of that day lingers. It’s a stark reminder of how unpredictable violence can be, and how important it is for us to continue discussions on mental health issues and gun control. Sending thoughts to everyone affected by this tragedy—wishing them peace and healing amid such painful memories.
