I’ve been following the Monte Bolton case for a while, and I can’t stop thinking about the fact that Anacapa Island is known for its treacherous waters and unpredictable weather. It makes me wonder if the sea conditions changed drastically while Monte and Bryan were out there, leading to their dinghy filling with water so suddenly. Has anyone looked into the historical weather data for that day? It might provide more clues about what happened. It's frustrating that Monte was never found, but maybe revisiting such details could shed new light on the circumstances they faced.
Does anyone have any information about the weather conditions on Anacapa Island around January 4, 1992? I know that the dinghy Monte and Bryan were using was found full of water, and I can’t help but wonder if rough seas or a sudden change in weather might have played a role in the tragic events. I realize it was a long time ago, but maybe someone has an old journal or local news articles that mention what the weather was like that day. It might help paint a clearer picture of what they were dealing with. Just trying to piece together any possible scenario that could explain what happened to Monte. Any input would be appreciated!
Just came across the Monte Bolton case again, and I can't stop thinking about the weather conditions that day. There's something unsettling about how unpredictable the water can be around the Channel Islands, especially in January. Does anyone know if there were any sudden changes in weather around that time? It's not uncommon for freak waves or strong currents to catch small boats by surprise. Maybe the tide or rough currents played a bigger role than initially thought? I'd love to see any old weather reports or find someone familiar with the area back then who could share more insights.
