Hey everyone,
I’ve been digging into the Piper Technical Center incident, and I keep thinking about Neil Carpenter and his legacy. From what I’ve gathered, Neil was known to be a kind and compassionate figure in his department. Former colleagues and friends spoke about how he always made an effort to brighten someone’s day, even when work got tough. It’s just incredibly sad to imagine someone like Neil being caught in such a terrible situation.
This got me thinking about the importance of having a supportive work environment and how critical it is for employees to feel heard and valued. I'm really curious about what changes, if any, were made in the city's General Services Department following the incident. Did they implement more comprehensive measures to identify and mitigate potential threats? Or did it all just get swept under the rug as time passed?
If anyone has more info on how things changed in the aftermath, I’d love to hear about it. I just hope this tragedy led to meaningful improvements so that Neil and his colleagues didn’t lose their lives in vain.
Sending thoughts to their families and hoping they’ve found some peace.
Stay safe, everyone.
I've been thinking a lot about how the Piper Technical Center shooting impacted the families of the victims, especially Neil Carpenter's. It's so difficult to comprehend the deep grief they've had to endure. Losing a loved one in such a senseless act of violence is unimaginable. I know this happened decades ago, but the pain for many must feel as fresh as if it were yesterday. Neil was just going to work, like any other day, and didn’t make it home. It’s devastating to think that the place we should feel safe at, our workplace, turned into such a dark moment in history for these families. Has anyone heard if the city made any changes to support victims' families in any way after the incident? Even small gestures can mean a lot, and it'd be heartening knowing that there was some support for them during such a tragic time.
