Hey everyone, I’ve been following the Bobby Millan case and something that I keep thinking about is the neighborhood itself. There's always been a lot said about Compton and its struggles, but can we take a moment to consider what it was like for the residents back in the '90s? Bobby and his family lived in a community where every day came with its own set of challenges and dangers. The fact that a child could be caught in such a violent act is beyond tragic, and it makes you wonder about the other kids who grew up in that area too. Bobby would have been just another teenager the day after he was killed. It’s hard to wrap your head around what his family might have felt, celebrating what would have been his 13th birthday without him. It’s painful to think of the impact his loss had on his family, friends, and neighbors. I hope that by continuing to talk about Bobby's story, we can keep raising awareness about the situation in cities like Compton and maybe bring about some change, even if it’s just in our understanding and empathy towards those who live in such hard-hit areas.
