Does anyone else find the timing of Joseph Ileto's murder particularly eerie? Just thinking about how he was on his routine mail route that ordinary day and how quickly everything changed is just chilling. It’s heartbreaking to realize that his life was taken simply because of the color of his skin and his role as a postal worker. It makes me wonder about the pressures law enforcement faced at the time, given how high profile this case became. With Furrow fleeing right after the shootings, the urgency and intensity must have been immense. It’s so disturbing to think that we’re still dealing with these kinds of hate crimes today. My thoughts are with the Ileto family as they continue to push for awareness and change. Stay strong, everyone.

Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the letter Furrow asked JoJo to mail before he took his life. It's such a chilling detail in this tragic story. For Furrow to approach Joseph under the guise of a mundane task, only to then commit such a heinous act, really highlights just how insidious hate can be. It’s disturbing to consider how deceptively normal interactions can mask violent intentions until it’s too late. The fact that Joseph was just doing his job, bringing mail to the community, makes this even harder to stomach. It’s a reminder of the everyday bravery shown by people like him, just going about their daily work. My heart goes out to Joseph's family and the communities affected by this senseless violence. None of them deserved this trauma brought into their lives by Furrow's actions. It’s critical that we continue to remember and honor Joseph Ileto, not just for the man he was, but for the awareness his loss has sparked about the reality of hate crimes. Stay safe out there, friends. Let's keep spreading love and understanding. — Jen
