I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact this tragedy had on the people of Pico Rivera. It’s terrifying to imagine something so violent happening in your own community, especially to a family that was so admired. I’ve read stories from neighbors and friends who said that Richard and his kids were more than just good people—they were the kind of family you aspire to be part of. Sylvia’s resilience is truly inspiring. I can’t even begin to fathom the strength it takes to survive such an ordeal, both physically and emotionally. Knowing that she had to rebuild her life while grieving such immeasurable loss is humbling. The support from their community must’ve made a world of difference, and it’s a reminder of how essential it is to come together during such dark times. If anyone has insights on how the community has rallied since, or personal stories of how they were able to support the surviving family members, I'd love to hear them. It’s important we keep their memories alive and offer whatever solace we can. ❤️
