I've been thinking a lot about the impact that George Cookson's murder must have had on his family and community. It's horrific enough to lose someone so suddenly and violently, but then to find out it's connected to something as big and complicated as gang operations? I can't even begin to imagine the pain and confusion his loved ones must have grappled with. The fact that more and more of these senseless acts stem from organized crime operations only highlights the ongoing issues Baltimore faces with gangs like the BGF. They’re virtually holding neighborhoods hostage, and it doesn’t seem like there’s an easy fix. Law enforcement obviously has their work cut out for them, not just in solving these cases but also in preventing future violence. My heart goes out to anyone who’s lost someone in similar circumstances. It seems like we’re hearing these stories all too often, and it never gets any easier to comprehend.
