I was browsing through some old case files and came across Joseph Omelio Orozco's story, which still weighs heavily on my mind. One thing that really baffles me is the lack of eyewitness accounts. Joseph was shot in a residential area, not somewhere tucked away where no one might have seen or heard anything. This kind of violence rarely goes unnoticed; somebody must have seen something! It’s so disheartening that people might be too scared to come forward, likely because of the fear of gangs like Varrio Hawaiian Gardens. It makes me wonder how communities can be better supported to feel safe speaking up. I can't imagine what Joseph's family is going through, waiting years for answers that still seem out of reach. The silence around such incidents perpetuates the cycle of violence. If anyone out there actually witnessed something or even heard rumors that the authorities might not know about, it could really help break this case open. Joseph's family deserves closure, and the community deserves to feel safe without the shadow of gang intimidation hanging over them.
