I’ve been thinking a lot about the aftermath of Sergeant Howard King Stevenson’s tragic death. What really stands out to me is the sheer bravery and sacrifice these officers display every single day. It’s both humbling and heart-wrenching to know that Sgt. Stevenson gave his life in service to protect his community. His dedication over 20 years with the department is truly inspiring, and his presence seems deeply missed by not only his family but also his fellow officers and the community as a whole. The way the department has honored him, with his identification number on the SWAT armored vehicle, serves as a powerful reminder of his commitment and sacrifice. It’s comforting to know they’re taking steps to prevent such tragedies in the future, but it’s hard not to reflect on the immense personal cost to his family. My thoughts are with them as they navigate life without him.
