I’ve been thinking about how Miguel Angel Reyes’ life was cut short and the role community strength plays in situations like these. It breaks my heart to see how fear can silence the voices of those who might hold the key to justice. It must be incredibly hard for witnesses who fear retaliation and feel caught between wanting to help and fearing for their own safety. There’s no easy answer, but is there more the community can do to support those who might have information? Maybe some kind of support network or anonymous tip line could offer witnesses a way to come forward without the fear of consequences. It just seems so important for everyone to come together to break this cycle and to honor Miguel’s memory by making sure his story isn’t just a statistic. Thoughts?
