I've been reading about the Covina massacre, and I'm just struck by the sheer cruelty and premeditation of Bruce Pardo's actions. It's so unsettling to think that someone could disguise such hate behind a Santa suit, a symbol usually associated with joy and giving. It makes me think about the trust that we place in the perceived safety and familiarity of family gatherings, especially during the holidays. How could someone harbor so much anger to bring such horror to a place that should be filled with love and laughter? My heart goes out to Cheri Ortega's family and all those who had to endure that atrocity. The resilience of the survivors, especially that young 16-year-old girl, is truly remarkable. It's a reminder of the strength needed to move forward after witnessing such unimaginable trauma. It’s crucial that we continue to support and listen to victims of domestic strife to hopefully prevent such tragedies in the future.
