It's really tough to revisit cases like Oscar Grant's, but an angle I find striking is the impact of bystander footage in this whole situation. Before smartphones, so many incidents went undocumented and justice was harder to achieve. Oscar’s tragic last moments being captured on video not only brought widespread attention to the incident but also added an undeniable layer of accountability. The bravery of those who recorded the scene cannot be overlooked; they played a crucial role in bringing the reality of that night to light. I think it’s important to appreciate how this footage gave Oscar and his family a voice that demanded to be heard, ultimately contributing to a broader conversation about police conduct and racial injustice. My heart really goes out to all who were affected by this tragedy—I can only hope positive change continues to stem from this dark incident.
