Has anyone else been following the debate about using Dolla's lyrics in the courtroom? I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, an artist's music is a form of creative expression and shouldn't be taken as a literal reflection of their actions or intent. To me, it's kind of like fiction. But on the other hand, I can see why the defense might bring it up if they feel it paints a picture relevant to the case. It's hard not to think about the impact this had on Dolla's loved ones, especially since art can be such a deep reflection of an individual's personality, fears, and stories. For his family, having his work put under a microscope like this must have been incredibly painful during an already difficult time. I'm curious to hear what everyone else thinks about this. Should an artist's work be fair game in court, or is it a misuse of their art?
