It’s clear from everything I've read that Steve was cherished by people in his neighborhood. I mean, to have his family and friends come forward with such powerful pleas for help shows just how much he meant to them and really underscores the sense of loss they're feeling. It must be so difficult for his mother and sister, but their courage in calling for justice is truly commendable. I hope someone with information reads their words and comes forward. Maybe we can all share this again to keep it in the public eye. This young man deserves justice, and his family deserves some sense of peace. Has anyone else come across any updates on the Steve Lopez case in Boyle Heights? It's been over a decade, and I can't believe his killer hasn't been brought to justice yet. I read on here before that his mom and sister's pleas for information were so touching—it's unimaginable what they must be going through. The part about him having a brain tumor and surviving surgeries, only to lose his life this way, absolutely breaks me. Given that the shooter hasn't been identified, I'm wondering if anyone has theories about potential witnesses or areas where folks might have seen something that night. Also, does anyone know if gang-related violence has decreased in that area since then? It seems like mistaking him for a gang member was a possible motive, but how does that happen to someone who's not even involved?
