Hey everyone, I’ve been following the Miguel Chavez case and can't stop thinking about how this might affect local efforts for community safety. The murder happened over a decade ago, yet the impact of violence seemed to spread a ripple of fear and silence throughout Boyle Heights. I wonder if the lack of witnesses stepping forward is partly due to this deep-seated fear of retaliation. I read that the community hasn't been very forthcoming with information. It’s tough because, on one hand, safety is a big concern, but on the other, the family deserves some closure. How can we encourage witnesses to speak up? Maybe more community outreach or support systems could make people feel safer about coming forward? Miguel's family deserves answers, and it’s disheartening to see such hesitation. What do you all think could be done to help break this cycle of silence?
