I was reading up on the case of Sergeant Loran "Butch" Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler, and I still can't comprehend the immense bravery they showed that day. It's haunting to think about what they faced during their final moments, especially when dealing with someone as dangerous as Jeremy Goulet. One aspect that really stood out to me was the community's response after the tragedy. It seems like the entire city of Santa Cruz came together in support of the families of the two officers, which I find incredibly touching. Memorial services were packed, and the outpouring of love showed just how much these officers meant to the people they served. I know it's been years since the incident, but I imagine the loss is still felt deeply by many. Does anyone else have insights into how the community has healed over the years, or if there are ongoing initiatives in their memory?
