I was thinking about Juan's case today and couldn't help but feel for his family. It's been over a decade since his untimely death, and the community in Paramount still holds him in their hearts. I pass by Pitts Avenue sometimes and am reminded of how the landscape might look ordinary, but it holds stories of deep loss and unfulfilled dreams. I wonder what more can be done to encourage witnesses to come forward or to keep Juan's story alive in the hopes that someone, somewhere, might provide that piece of information that could break the case open. It's frustrating to think there's potentially someone out there with the key to bringing justice to his family. My heart goes out to them as they continue to wait for any news. Does anyone else have thoughts on how communities can keep cold cases like this one in the public eye?
