I was reading some of the news articles about Carlos Smith's tragic death, and something that keeps standing out to me is how much he seemed to be loved by those around him. It's deeply saddening to hear about a young person who had so much potential being taken away so violently. What really hits hard is thinking about his family and friends, and the void that must have been left by his passing.
I've seen mentions of community vigils held in his memory, and it touches me to consider how people came together to honor him amid their grief. Has anyone here attended one of these vigils or been involved with the community efforts happening after his passing? It seems like his story has continued to resonate with many as a symbol of the struggle against violence in Baltimore. I hope that eventually there will be some form of peace or justice for Carlos, and for the other families who have been impacted by similar tragedies.
It's tragic to hear about the loss of young lives like Carlos Smith to gun violence in Baltimore. On a bit of a sideline, I've been thinking about the community's response. I've read about several grassroots initiatives that have sprung up in the city over the years, especially around that time in 2017. It seems like a lot of local groups were trying to tackle the bigger picture by focusing on poverty, education, and providing more support for kids at risk. It must be so difficult for the families involved to see real change when hope gets overshadowed by another senseless murder.
Does anyone know of any positive results from these community efforts? Or is there specific support available for the victims' families to help them cope? Anything that provides even a small silver lining would be good to hear about in the wake of so much tragedy.
