Hey everyone, I’ve been reading up on the cold case of Marquita Sherea Gant and something really sticks out to me. Marquita’s last known whereabouts weren’t extensively detailed in the initial reports, and I'm curious if anyone has more insight. Was she last seen in a specific area, like a part of town known for nightlife or perhaps near any places she frequently visited? Also, has there been any mention of surveillance footage from that time? I know it’s been years, but sometimes locations or businesses might retain records longer than we think, even if they’re just old camera angles or timestamps. Any insight would be helpful! Thanks in advance.
Hey everyone,
I came across Marquita Sherea Gant's case recently and something that's been on my mind is the role of NamUs in situations like these. I know that it's a huge database and resource for tracking missing and unidentified persons, but does anyone here know how effective it's truly been in cases like Marquita's? It's been almost two decades without any significant developments. It's just so frustrating to think of how many cases must sit there waiting for a break.
Also, I'm curious how often cold cases get reviewed by the police. If the Memphis Cold Case Unit is still working on it, does anyone know what kind of resources they might have or how often they might revisit files like Marquita's? With so many cases out there, it's hard not to wonder how they prioritize which ones to dig into. Would anyone with experience in law enforcement or who’s been following similar cases care to weigh in?
It just feels like this case might be at a standstill, and any insight would be appreciated. Plus, if there’s more we can do as a community to help, I'd love to hear any suggestions.
Thanks!
