I came across Frankie Varela's story, and it's been really weighing on my mind. It's such a tragedy that someone with a background like his—having served in the Navy and worked as a correctional officer—got caught up in such a violent situation. It makes me think about how easily lives can be touched by tragedies through these associations. Even if he wasn't a member of the Mongols, just having friends affiliated with them tragically put him in harm's way. I'm curious about what kind of support systems are in place for families affected by these types of incidents. The pain and confusion Frankie's loved ones must be feeling is unimaginable, especially since there haven't been any arrests yet. I'm hoping with all my heart that justice is served and that they find some peace and closure soon. Have any of you heard if there are any local efforts to support them or ways the community might be coming together to remember him?
