I’ve been thinking a lot about Ximena's case lately, particularly the role of the community in the aftermath. It’s so incredibly sad to imagine this little girl losing her life in her own neighborhood just because she happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. From what I’ve read, the area had a pretty significant issue with gang violence even before this tragedy. I wonder if there have been any changes or initiatives put in place since Ximena's death to try to curb gang activity in the neighborhood. Have residents felt any safer in recent years, or do they still feel overshadowed by the fear of these kinds of events happening again? It’s unfathomable to think that this could happen to anyone’s child. My heart goes out to her family and the community. Would love to hear thoughts or updates from anyone more familiar with the area.
