It's been a while since I've been so affected by a case like this. It's hard to comprehend how someone's life can be snuffed out in such a callous way. I've been thinking a lot about the other people who were at that intersection or passing by that night when Samuel Weinberg was murdered. It's terrifying to imagine how they must feel, knowing they witnessed something so horrific. I couldn't help but wonder about the trauma and shock for those who happened to be there in Santa Cruz at that exact moment. We often think about the direct impact on a victim's friends and family, but the ripple effect on witnesses must be devastating too. I mean, what if there were kids in nearby cars or people just casually enjoying a Friday night out? How does one even begin to process something like that? I just hope everyone who witnessed it receives the support they need to cope with what they saw. I'll be keeping Samuel's family and all of those indirectly affected in my thoughts. The emotional fallout is immense, and it's a stark reminder of how the effects of violence can spread so wide and alter so many lives. Stay safe out there, everyone.
