Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic case of Roman P. Gonzalez, and my heart goes out to his family and those impacted by this senseless act of violence. While there are many facets to discuss, one thing that has been on my mind is the role of the Sacramento City College's alert system during the incident. I've read many comments from students frustrated with the delayed notifications. Some said they didn’t even hear about the shooting until 45 minutes after it happened. In situations like this, every minute counts, and timely alerts could potentially save lives or at least help others avoid danger. It's upsetting to think that a system meant to protect students and staff was ineffective when they needed it most. I hope this case has led to some tangible improvements in how emergency alerts are handled on campus. We rely on these systems for our safety, and they need to function properly. Thinking of Roman and his loved ones during this difficult time. They're dealing with unimaginable pain, and it's crucial that we ensure our communities are doing everything possible to prevent future tragedies. Take care and stay safe everyone.
