I’ve been thinking a lot about the tough path Michael Wetzel's family must be on. Having six kids lose a father in such a sudden and violent way is beyond imaginable. It's hard not to get emotional when pondering how they have had to cope, especially during milestones that have come and gone since December 2, 2015. I read somewhere that he was deeply involved in coaching youth soccer, and that just makes it even more tragic, knowing how many young lives he touched and inspired.
For those who have followed this case closely, are there any efforts within the community to continue his legacy, maybe through sports or mentorship programs? It seems like keeping his positive impact alive could be a healing way forward for the community and his family. Just incredibly saddened for all affected and always hoping they find strength in remembering the love and dedication he shared with them. ??
I've been following the San Bernardino case, and something just keeps sticking with me: the courage of Michael Wetzel's colleagues during such an unimaginable situation. With 14 lives tragically taken, including Michael's, it's harrowing to think about everything they went through that day. I've read accounts where some of the survivors did everything they could to help each other escape the chaos.
It's easy to forget this was a holiday party, a time meant for joy and celebration among friends and colleagues, suddenly turned into a nightmare. Those who survived have spoken about how they tried to make sense of what was happening, getting others to safety. It's stories like these that remind me of the resilience of the human spirit, even in the darkest times.
I can't imagine the trauma they carry, and I hope they're getting the support they need to heal from such a traumatic experience. My thoughts are with them, and with Michael’s family, especially his six children. The community seems really close-knit, and I hope they find strength in each other.
