I keep thinking about the role mental health might have played in Brandon's tragic end. It's clear tensions were high and the stakes were through the roof. But what’s been bothering me is whether Brandon had any support or help leading up to that awful night. Being in such a dire situation, was there anyone who tried to talk him down in a calm way, addressing what might have been going on with him mentally?
The police surely have a tough job, but I hope this case sheds light on how vital it is to bring mental health professionals into tense stand-offs like this. If anything, we need to learn from such painful incidents to prevent future tragedies and provide the right kind of support to those who need it most. My heart truly goes out to his family and friends; losing someone in such a way must be unimaginably difficult. How often are mental health services involved in situations like these? Can anyone share some insight?

The thing that bothers me the most is he had fallen from a tree in 2911 at work, broke his back and was completely paralyzed from center chest down. He was in a wheelchair. He was depressed, his wife left him. He was going through a lot. He was my best friend and no one bothered to call me. I was blocks away. I would have been there in two seconds. His mother decided to call her friend to talk him down. Not me the person who talked to him daily.

,Later after I got the official report she told the cops that he was at the house and was manipulating guns, and she was scared for her life, which brought them there in the armed manner. They came. She then left the property and let whatever happened happen. And then played victim for the next five years.

No body cam, no vehicle - cams, no, nothing 300 vehicles, a armored vehicle, not one camera. They stole all the cameras out of his home. So we have no honest evidence of what happened there.

He was in a wheelchair, he had a gun in his one hand and a cigarette in the other, and was telling them to get off. His property is what I guess. Telling them to leave, he doesn't give a shit. He wants to die and they shot him. So many times there wasn't enough left of him to be embom. No, his own family turned his back on him, which they have mental health problems themselves, which made his worse. Add into it a lot of weed and drugs at the time. Probably with painkillers, he got for his broken back. I could have just walked up and taken the gun out of his hand and pushed his wheelchair over. They didn't need to do any of that, nor did his mother. Sad his children are grown. He didn't get to see any of that.

Everybody else seems to have profited and moved on....

There were so many forces that were pulling apart his life, and they were all the people he should have trusted. The most which he did, but he shouldn't have which again breaks you down depression. Sadness

I am so sorry for how this played out and the pain it has caused. Such a tragic and awful ending to someone you cared about. This whole situation just sucks.
