I’ve been thinking a lot about Mauriana's case, especially about how someone so young and full of life could have been taken from us. It hits hard knowing she was just 16 and had her whole life ahead of her. Her love for dancing and making others smile showed what a bright light she was to everyone around her. I often wonder what it was like for the first responders who arrived that day. They must’ve seen so many tragic scenes, but walking in and finding a teenager with so many dreams yet to fulfill must leave quite an impression. I hope that with the legal proceedings, Mauriana’s family can find some semblance of peace and justice. These situations are a harsh reality check on how crucial it is to tackle gun violence head-on. It's heartening to see the community rallying against these senseless acts. We need more of these conversations to prevent future tragedies. Mauriana’s story deserves more than just to be remembered; it needs to prompt real change. Sending love to her family and friends who are still dealing with her loss. We’re all standing with you.
