I recently came across the case of Deonte Whiteside, and one aspect that really stood out to me was the role of social media in this tragic event. It's unsettling to think how something as seemingly innocent as a Snapchat account could be weaponized in such a destructive way. The girl, whose account was hacked by Danqwail Jones, must have been through an unimaginable ordeal. First, unknowingly being used as bait, and then, being targeted herself when she tried to do the right thing. Her bravery in coming forward despite the threats deserves a lot of recognition. It’s appalling how social media constraints can be manipulated by those with malicious intent, and it shows just how careful we need to be in this digital age. I can't imagine the pain Deonte's family must be going through, and my heart goes out to them and the entire community.
