Has anyone else been following the details of the Joseph Mann case and the legal decisions around it? I came across the part where the 9th Circuit allowed Mann's siblings to sue the city, and it got me thinking about how rare and significant these rulings are. In many cases, siblings don’t always have the legal standing needed to bring such lawsuits, and it seems like this could set a new precedent, acknowledging the profound impact these tragedies have, not just on parents or direct dependents, but on other close family members too.
It must be incredibly difficult for Joseph's family to continually relive the trauma and fight for justice. I really feel for them and hope they find some sense of closure through all this. This case highlights the importance of recognizing the human impact within the justice system. What do you all think this could mean for future cases involving police conduct and mental health considerations?
