I've been following Alberto Juarez Jr.'s case, and it just leaves me feeling devastated for his family. The fact that he was trying to do the right thing by stepping in to de-escalate the violence says a lot about his character. It’s truly awful that his life was taken in such a senseless way. I can't even begin to imagine the pain his daughter and sister must be going through. The plea deal bothers me, though. While I get the complexities of legal proceedings, it feels like the consequence doesn’t match the crime, especially when Juarez lost his life in the process. I'm hoping the sentence brings some closure, but it must be so hard knowing that the person responsible will walk free someday. Anyone else have thoughts on how these kinds of deals play into overall justice in gang-related violence cases?
