Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about Darrel Smith's case, and something keeps bugging me. Do you think it's possible that someone who was familiar with his business could've planned this robbery? Given that his operation was cash-only and not advertised, it seems likely that whoever did this knew exactly how he ran things. It makes me wonder if anyone in the local area might've overheard or seen something unusual around that time, either at the sawmill or in the neighborhood. Smith's Sawmill was such an integral part of the community, and I remember hearing stories about Darrel being a straightforward and honest guy. It's hard to grasp how or why someone would harm him. It's been 15 years, and I can only imagine how tough this ongoing uncertainty is for Barbara and their family. If anyone in the Woodland area remembers anything, no matter how minor it might seem, it could be the piece of the puzzle that's been missing. Let's keep the conversation alive and see if we can help bring some overdue justice for Darrel and his loved ones.

Has anyone else found it really odd how the murder weapon was discovered but still no arrests have been made? In most cases, finding the weapon can be a crucial turning point, but here we are, over a decade later, with Darrel Smith’s family still waiting for answers. I can’t imagine the frustration they must feel knowing that a vital piece of evidence hasn’t led to justice. It makes me wonder if there's something about the weapon or its origins that we’re not aware of—could it have been stolen before the murder, making it harder to trace? Or is it possible the evidence was mishandled early on? My heart goes out to Barbara and the rest of the Smith family as they continue to endure this uncertainty. Staying hopeful that some new information or forensic advancement will finally bring this case to a close and provide them with peace.
