Did anyone else read about Gilda’s motherly nature and how much she cared for her family despite everything she was going through? I keep thinking about how her daughter, Monica, had to hear those last terrifying moments and the courage it must have taken for Gilda to make that desperate call to 911. It's such a haunting reminder of how the darkest situations can affect those who are closest. I wish more had been done to protect her, especially after the threats she reported. How can we better support and intervene in these situations before they become tragedies? Gilda’s spirit and love for her family should never be diminished by the violence she had to endure. This has been a wake-up call for me about how important it is to speak up and support those in similar situations.

I’ve been thinking about the police response time to the incident on Normal Avenue. From what I’ve read, Gilda managed to call 911 despite her severe injuries, which shows incredible strength. But I can’t help but wonder how quickly help arrived after that call. I know the outcome might not have changed, given her injuries, but for Monica and the rest of the family, it might bring some comfort to know that everything possible was done to help Gilda in her last moments. Delays in emergency responses can be troubling, especially in situations marked by domestic violence, where every second is critical. My thoughts are with Monica and the entire family — what a horrific thing to experience right next door. Does anyone know more about how emergency services handled this situation?
