Does anyone else find it incredibly upsetting how deeply this incident has affected the Cherry Valley community? It’s so saddening to think about how Jose Leon's family, especially his widow Dora, must have felt during that long, agonizing wait for his body to be properly cared for. Waiting nearly eight hours while exposed in public view must have added so much more pain to an already horrific situation. I keep thinking about how horrifying it must have been for anyone who witnessed the scene at the mobile home park that day. My heart goes out to those neighbors and emergency responders who had to witness such a tragic event unfold. It's just a reminder of the ripple effects of violence, impacting not only the immediate family but entire communities, too. Those who didn’t know Jose personally also deserve support and healing as they grapple with the memory of that day. How can we support communities and families dealing with such tragedies better? I'd love to hear others' thoughts.
