Has anyone looked into the possibility that Dona could have been trying to revisit a place from her past or somewhere she felt a strong connection to? I was reading about her case and it struck me that the direction she went in was away from her appointment and towards a more remote area. Since she was in the early stages of Alzheimer's, it's possible she might have been experiencing moments of nostalgia or a longing for a place she remembered fondly. I know this is purely speculative, but I wonder if anyone has thought about the places in the Los Padres National Forest that could have had a significant meaning to her. Maybe there's someone who's aware of her past associations in that area who can shed some light?
I find it really puzzling that Dona's car was found at the Gridley Trailhead. From what I understand, that area is known for its challenging hiking paths. It's quite out of character for someone dealing with early-stage Alzheimer’s to end up at a place like that, especially since it was in the opposite direction of where she was supposed to be going.
Has anyone looked into whether she had a history of going hiking in that region, or if maybe there was someone she might have met there? It's odd that both the initial and follow-up searches turned up nothing, considering people must have started searching relatively soon after the car was discovered. I'm wondering if anyone local noticed any unfamiliar faces or behavior around that time. Also, does anyone know if there's been any activity on her bank accounts or phone records after she vanished? Every bit of information counts in cases like these.
