Dona Marie Perry, age 68, was last seen on January 5, 2016, at a Starbucks in Ojai, California. That morning, she left her home around 9 a.m. to attend a doctor's appointment in Thousand Oaks, but she canceled the appointment and has not been heard from since. Perry was diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s, which had not yet severely impacted her cognition, but it may have played a role in her disappearance.
Two days after she went missing, Perry's car was discovered abandoned near the Gridley Trailhead, which leads into the Los Padres National Forest—an area in the opposite direction of her scheduled appointment. A search of the surrounding area, including a follow-up search in March 2017, did not uncover any clues to her whereabouts.
At the time of her disappearance, Perry was described as 5'6", 130 pounds, with gray hair and green eyes. She was wearing a teal and blue jacket, a flannel shirt, a wide-brimmed brown hat, and carrying a pull-string backpack. Despite extensive efforts by her family and authorities, her case remains unsolved, and her family continues to seek any information that could help locate her.
