I’ve been following this case closely, and something that really sticks out to me is the sheer bravery and determination of the investigative teams. It’s reassuring to see how they pieced together the puzzle to bring the murder squad to justice. Considering how complex the web of violence was, it's impressive they managed to track down key figures like Ryan Meza and Joseph Garcia. We often hear about the violence but seldom about the people who tirelessly work behind the scenes to combat it. My thoughts are with Sergio Carcamo’s family and all other victims who have suffered due to the actions of these perpetrators. Hopefully, the diligence of law enforcement will bring some sense of closure to them. ?
I've been thinking a lot about the role technology played in this case, especially with how ShotSpotter was instrumental in detecting the gunfire that tragically took Sergio Carcamo's life. It's quite impressive that this tech can alert law enforcement to gunshots instantly, possibly sending help faster than a traditional 911 call ever could. But it also makes me wonder how such advanced tech can be balanced with community trust. It must be reassuring to some residents to know that there are tools in place to combat violence, yet for others, I imagine it could feel a bit invasive. Does anyone else have thoughts on how tech like this impacts neighborhoods, particularly in areas with a high rate of violent crime? It’s a complicated issue, and I hope tools like these can be used to prevent future tragedies and bring peace to Sergio's loved ones and residents of Salinas.
