I always think about how these investigations take so many unexpected twists and turns. I can't stop thinking about the circumstances around Kayla's meeting with Morales that night. It haunts me to imagine how an initial conversation could have led to such a tragic outcome. What could have been said that upset him so much? It's terrifying to think about how a stranger can so suddenly change the course of someone's life forever. I feel deeply for Kayla's family and her little daughter, who has to grow up without her mom. I know Morales pleaded no contest and received 15 years, but it just seems so unfair how life can be taken away so easily and leave so much heartache behind. I just hope Kayla’s loved ones are finding some semblance of peace and support from their community. The vigils they held show how loved she was and how much her life meant to those around her. Please, everyone, let’s keep discussing how we can work towards preventing these senseless acts of violence. No family should have to endure this kind of pain.
