Was anyone else aware of Brian Combs' work with local charities in New Orleans? After reading about his tragic death, I got curious and looked into his background a bit more. Turns out, he was actively volunteering at several shelters and soup kitchens in the city. It's just so sad to think about how someone so driven to help others could be taken in such a senseless act of violence. It's especially tough knowing that the city's systemic issues with policing and crime might have contributed to cases like Brian's not getting the attention they desperately needed. With New Orleans having been seen as the "murder capital" back then, you'd think there would have been a greater urgency to tackle crime. I truly hope that his family, and all the families affected by this period, have somehow found peace over the years. It's infuriating to think about how reforms came too late for those who lost loved ones back then.
