I was thinking about the curious case of Richard McMichael Jr. again today and wanted to throw out a theory I've been mulling over. There's a lot of focus on his potential move towards Akron or somewhere warmer for personal reasons, but what if we're overlooking something closer to home? Given the fact that Richard had no identification on him, it seems like he might have been trying to completely fall off the grid, for whatever reason. Perhaps he had someone in the local area — in Mentor or a nearby town — that he could trust, and he's been in safe hiding? It's just odd that no significant leads have popped up in all these years. Has anyone looked into his closer connections or possible safe havens in that region? Sometimes when looking far afield, the answers could actually be closer than we think. What does everyone else think about this angle?

I’ve been following Richard McMichael Jr.’s case for a while and something that really stands out to me is the fact that he didn't take any ID with him. In today's world, it’s almost impossible to do anything without some form of identification. It makes me wonder if he had any cash on him when he left? Or maybe he was planning to be off the grid for a while? It’s so perplexing that someone could just vanish like that in this day and age. I keep hoping something will pop up to give his family a clue about where he went. Does anyone have thoughts on how someone could manage without ID or credit cards for so long?
