I recently came across Kelvin Chew's case and felt compelled to write about the impact this tragedy must be having on his friends and family. Although I didn’t know Kelvin personally, hearing how close he was to starting a new chapter at City College of San Francisco breaks my heart. It must have been incredibly difficult for his loved ones to face such a sudden and unfathomable loss. I read that the Community Youth Center set up a GoFundMe to help his family, which is a beautiful gesture. It’s amazing to see a community come together in times of need, even when faced with such terrible circumstances. It speaks volumes about the impact Kelvin had on those around him. If anyone else has more info on how we might help support Kelvin's family or others affected, please share. Let’s keep his memory alive by supporting the people he loved and the causes he would have pursued.

I keep thinking about how Kelvin's mother must feel. Imagine the worry she felt when he didn't come home on time, only to be met with the absolute worst-case scenario. It's a fear no parent should ever have to live through. As a first-generation immigrant myself, I know the struggles and hopes parents have for their children in a new country. Kelvin had such a bright future ahead, with dreams of making a difference through his studies at UC Santa Cruz. It’s devastating to see such promising potential cut short by senseless violence. I hope that as a community, we can rally around his family, not just through donations but by ensuring no other family has to go through this nightmare. If there are any more organized community events or support groups, it would be good to spread the word. We need to support each other and work towards safer neighborhoods.

I've been following the tragic case of Kelvin Chew, and something that stands out to me is his incredible potential that was so brutally cut short. With dreams of studying computer science and engineering at UC Santa Cruz, it's clear that Kelvin was not only ambitious but also driven. It breaks my heart to think of all the contributions he could have made, both in the tech world and his community. His story reminds me of how important it is to support young people's aspirations and dreams. I feel for his family, who must have been so proud of his accomplishments and hopeful for his future. Losing such a bright and promising young man just compounds the tragedy of it all. It's truly devastating to see a life, filled with promise and hope, end so abruptly due to senseless violence. I hope justice is served and that Kelvin's story inspires positive change in San Francisco. The community gathering around his family and organizing support shows there's still a lot of good out there, and I hope it brings some comfort to those grieving his loss.
