I've been following the case of Consullea "Connie" Lewis and her family, and it's incredibly hard to fathom what her loved ones are going through right now. One detail that really stands out to me is the sheer number of incidents that took place that same weekend in New Orleans. It makes you wonder about the scale of the violence in the city at the time and the environment Connie and her family were living in.
It seems the community was already on edge with the rising murder rate, and this tragic event only added more fear and uncertainty. It's mind-boggling that despite this being a triple homicide, it seems like solid leads were hard to come by. The randomness of violence like this is just so unsettling. My thoughts are truly with the families and friends who lost someone dear that weekend, and I hope they are surrounded by support and love. Hoping beyond hope that justice eventually finds its way for Connie and her family.
I can’t stop thinking about how this senseless tragedy must have affected Connie's neighbors and community in the 7th Ward. From everything I've read, she was incredibly well-liked and a fixture in the neighborhood. The horror of such violence happening next door must have been unimaginable. It makes me wonder how the local community banded together afterward and if there were any community vigils or efforts to support one another following this horrific event. I hope, despite the immense grief, that there was some semblance of comfort and solidarity for those left to deal with this traumatic loss. Does anyone know if there were initiatives or local meetings held afterward to address safety or to mourn together? Sending love to everyone affected.
