I've been following the case of Alexander AJ Van Duren, and I can't stop thinking about how brave the young people in his community have been. After such an unimaginable loss, it's so touching to see students and schools rally together, not just to remember AJ but to take a stand against the violence that's shaken their town. A few local high schools even organized events to honor AJ's memory — candlelight vigils, community walks, and discussions about how youth can steer clear of gang influences. It’s truly inspiring to see young voices advocating for change, speaking out, and aiming to make a difference. Despite the pain, they seem determined to prevent another tragedy like this from happening. I sincerely hope that their efforts, alongside those of AJ's family and the wider community, bring about the change that Stockton needs. AJ had his whole life ahead of him, and it’s profoundly reassuring to know that his friends and peers are working hard to honor his memory by pursuing peace and safety for everybody.
