I've been following the tragic case of Charles Michael Johnson III, and my heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim who was struck in San Pablo. One aspect I've been thinking about is the role of speed in accidents like this. It's so alarming how quickly a vehicle can turn into a deadly weapon when it's going beyond safe limits. I keep wondering how different things might have been if slower speeds were enforced more effectively in residential areas, particularly near places like Richmond High School.
The community around there must be deeply affected by this loss, and it makes me reflect on how important it is for us to push for better traffic calming measures and stricter enforcement of speed limits in high-foot-traffic areas. It's devastating that it often takes a tragedy to bring these issues into the spotlight. I hope that out of this senseless incident, there can be some positive change to help prevent future tragedies and honor the memory of the victim. Sending thoughts of strength to all those grieving during this incredibly difficult time.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the victim and the immense sorrow their family must be feeling right now. It’s hard to comprehend how someone could leave the scene like that. It's clear there are a lot of layers to this case, but today I wanted to talk about street safety. 23rd Street is such a busy area near Richmond High, and pedestrian crossings don’t always feel safe with the speeds some cars reach. While Johnson's alleged actions are absolutely inexcusable, I can’t help but wonder if changes to road design and traffic control might help prevent future tragedies. Maybe more visible crosswalks or speed bumps could encourage drivers to slow down, especially near schools and community hubs. It might not solve everything, but it's a start. Thoughts?
