Does anyone else find it unsettling how our justice system handles probation? Ruben Perez was on active probation for a firearm conviction, yet he was allowed to attend classes unsupervised. It’s mind-boggling that someone with a history involving a firearm was given this level of freedom. This isn't just a failure of one individual, but a lapse in the system. Evan Robinson’s family is left to grieve because someone slipped through the cracks. We have to ask ourselves: how can probation procedures be improved to prevent such tragedies? The community deserves better, and Evan deserved a safer world. My heart goes out to his family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time.
