I’ve been thinking about the role of technology like ShotSpotter in cases like the tragic one involving Alfred Lee Williams. It’s incredible how quickly authorities can respond now thanks to these systems. Knowing that there was another victim who survived, I'm thankful they could get help in time. But it also makes me wonder, how often does ShotSpotter contribute to solving cases in Bakersfield? And how can communities work together with law enforcement to counter this kind of violence? It’s so important for the city to stay vigilant and support such initiatives to hopefully prevent future tragedies. My heart goes out to Alfred’s family; I can't imagine what they’re going through.
