I've been following the case of Jesus Mateo De La Torre, and something that's been on my mind is the location where the tragedy happened—Weedpatch Highway. I'm not from Bakersfield, but from what I've gathered, it seems like a pretty quiet area. Does anyone local have more insight into whether this stretch of highway is known for any kind of crime or if there's been similar incidents there in the past?
It just seems so random and senseless, and I can’t imagine what his family is going through. It’s deeply unsettling that there haven't been any arrests or suspects named yet. Hopefully, someone who knows something comes forward soon. It's a reminder of how much work needs to be done to make our communities safer. Holding his family in my thoughts.
