Hey everyone,
I’ve been extensively reading about the tragic case of David Jones and am feeling quite reflective on why these stories do not seem to gain more attention outside of New Orleans. It's soul-crushing to see how gun violence, especially in 2014, was consuming so many lives like David's, and yet it often felt like just another statistic. From what I've gathered, areas like the 5th and 7th districts saw shocking amounts of violence and it just seems so daunting imagining what families and friends of victims, like David, went through.
I’m curious about what community programs or efforts were in place to try and tackle this issue head-on back then. I know there were attempts through both law enforcement and community groups, but does anyone have more insight into any programs that really made a difference or stories of people coming together to reclaim their neighborhoods during that time? Sending thoughts to everyone impacted by these tragedies and hoping we can learn from these past lessons to do better in the future.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
