I'm still in shock over Roberto's passing. I didn't know him personally, but I've seen him play at Century High's baseball games. You could just tell he had a passion for the sport. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and teammates—such a devastating loss for everyone involved. It's so frustrating that even with the surveillance footage, the suspect hasn't been caught yet. It's hard not to feel upset knowing his family and friends are still waiting for justice. If anyone out there knows something, anything, please speak up. Every little bit of info can help, and his loved ones deserve some peace. ?
I've been following Roberto Izelo's case since it happened, and it's still so hard to wrap my mind around this senseless loss. One thing that sticks out to me is the role of community safety and how this tragic event has impacted the sense of security around Century High School and the surrounding areas. I’ve read that the alley where it happened was just two miles from the school. I can’t imagine how it must feel for Roberto’s classmates and neighbors, knowing that this happened so close to home.
A school is supposed to be a safe space for young people. The fact that something this tragic unfolded nearby is unsettling. I’ve heard the school has been doing their best with crisis counselors and support, which is commendable, but the broader community needs to rally together to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again. It’s scary to think that a random act like this can take away someone who is just starting on their path in life, like Roberto.
I hope anyone who has any information feels compelled to come forward and help bring some peace to Roberto’s family and friends. No family should have to suffer like this, and the community deserves to know that the person responsible is held accountable.
