On October 28, 2022, Samuel Esparaza, 42, was found dead inside a car at the scene of a single-vehicle crash near Howard Street and Central Avenue in Montclair, California. Investigators initially treated the scene as a traffic collision, but the coroner’s examination revealed a gunshot wound as the cause of death, and the case was reclassified as a homicide with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department leading the investigation.
After nearly two months of work, investigators identified a suspect, Roberto Pizana, 44, of Pomona. Pizana was arrested on December 13, 2022, at a home on Rio Rancho Road and was booked with bail set at $1.1 million. Authorities said they had tied him to the murder but did not disclose the evidence publicly. As of late December 2022, Pizana had not been formally charged with murder; he remained in custody and faced at least a potential charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm while an arraignment on a possible murder charge was pending.
Does anyone have information about Samuel’s movements or the area around Howard Street and Central Avenue on October 28, 2022?
