I’ve been reading more about the Attica prison riot and it's just deeply upsetting thinking about what Jones’s family went through. I came across details focusing on the moments right before the State Police went in—apparently, there was a real lack of communication and planning. How does it happen that Jones and others were never warned more clearly about the force that was about to be used, especially knowing the tension? This was a man who had survived Vietnam and to think that he ended up caught in the chaos without real guidance or protection is so frustrating. Then, there's the whole legal aspect—can you imagine trying to fight for justice after losing a loved one like that, just to be turned away because of "sovereign immunity?" My heart goes out to Lynda and the entire family for having to face such a system while grieving. Curious what others think of how this was handled legally and whether there’s been any real change since then.
