Remembering Officer Robert E. Walsh today. I was reading through some old articles and couldn't help but think about the aftermath of such a devastating loss for his family and those close to him. The thing that stands out to me is how often we forget the personal side of these tragedies when discussing true crime. It just breaks my heart to imagine his family, especially knowing they're still carrying the weight of that day. How his colleagues at NYPD must have struggled too, losing a friend and a fellow officer. I'm wondering if anyone knows about the support systems that were put in place for his loved ones back then? Was there anything like a community fund or support group to help them cope? It's crucial we don't just focus on the crime itself, but also remember and support those who were most affected. My thoughts are with them today.
